School Day Celebration

The Chetana Child Developmental Centre celebrated it’s ‘Annual Day’ on 23.12.2022 evening at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall, Mangalore. Smt. Poornima, Deputy Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation presided over the function, in her address lauded the decade long efforts put by the Chetana School in bringing smiles in the faces of divyang and their parents. She appealed the public to support such efforts through giving opportunities to divyang community. Shri Balakrishna Kottari, Trustee, Shri Nagakannika Durga Parameshwari Temple Derebail, Konchadi, Mangalore the Chief Guest spoke on the occasion that it is duty of one and all to treat the divyang children as privileged one and try to bring out hidden talents in them which is honestly done by Chetana School.

School teacher Smt. Savita welcomed the gathering and Head mistress read out the school report of the academic year. Variety entertainment, especially ‘Tulunada Siri’ depicting the cultural features of Dakshina Kannada, staged by involvement of all the divyang children of the school has been appreciated by the audience. Founder Trustees of Seva Bharathi Smt. Sumathi V Shenoy and Shri U V Shenoy, Secretary Shri H Nagaraj Bhat , Treasurer Shri Vinod Shenoy, other Trustees, Volunteers, well wishers, Teaching and non teaching staff, parents gathered in large number. School teacher Smt.Deepa Mohan proposed vote of thanks. The function concluded with the National Anthem.

Conducting annual trip of Divyang

Ashjyothi a forum of Divyang and their parents, is conducting a tour of divyang children every year to the nearby places of importance. Such tour is conducted on 11.12.2022 to Shri Chandika Durga Parameshwari Temple & Shri Vinayaka Devasthana, Anegudde(Kumbhasi) and Uchila Shri Mahalaxmi Devasthana. A total of 171 members including divyang children with parents, teachers and volunteers participated in the tour. The management of Vinayaka temple and Mahalaxmi temple delightfully co-operated in providing lunch and evening refreshments etc, respectively. while returning back at evening, the team also enjoyed the sea shore moments at beautiful beach near Tadambail, Suratkal.

A talk on “Depression – Cause, Prevention & Remedy”

‘Anantha Soukhya’ organized a talk on “Depression – Cause, Prevention & Remedy” on 19.11.2022 meant for all age group, at Chetana School premises. Dr. Satheesh Rao Professor, Department of Psychiatry, KSHEMA, Deralakatte, Mangaluru inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp also with Smt. Sumathi V Shenoy, President, Seva Bharathi ®, Shri T Gajanan Pai, Trustee and Shri Umesh Shenoy, Convenor, Anantha Soukhya. Dr. Aruna Yediyal, Professor and Psychiatrist, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru in her talk stated that depression is increasing in the society and not limited to aged only but haunting the youth community as well. Explaining different ways and means to come out from depression, she advised counseling techniques are proved more beneficial. In the camp, more than 95 participants attended.

A talk on “Age is just a number – Healthy Aging”

‘Anantha Soukhya’ in association with Peoples Association for Geriatric Empowerment (PAGE) organized a talk on “Age is just a number – Healthy Aging” on 17.9.2022 meant for all age group at Chetana School premises. The resource person, Dr. Prabha Adhikari, HOD, Department of Geriatrics, Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte, Mangaluru and the Convenor, PAGE, Mangaluru inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp also with Shri H Nagraj Bhat, Hon. Secretary Seva Bharathi and Shri Umesh Shenoy, Convenor, Anantha Soukhya. In her talk she enlightened the participants on various aspects to be taken care to maintain good health including memory, in the aging process. During interaction with participants, she guided/demonstrated useful exercises to practice daily. A good number of 122 participants attended the talk/interaction.

At Chetana Child Development Centre, Mrs. Poornima, Corporator, Mangaluru City Corporation was the chief guest, hoisted the National Flag. The special children and staff of the centre performed cultural program depicting history of freedom struggle. Smt. Sumathi V Shenoy, President and other trustees of Seva Bharathi®, parents and well wishers were gathered in large number.

At Adamya Chetana Day Care Centre, Ullal, Veteran Sri Muralidhar Malya, hoisted the Flag. Smt. Manjula, Manager, State Bank of India, Kutharpadavu, Shri Laxman Shenoy and Shri T Nithyananda Shenoy, Enterpreneurs, staff and special children of the day care centre witnessed the celebration.

At Vidya Chetana Special School, Ramakunja, Puttur Taluk, Shri Harshit, President, Ramakunj Village Panchayath was the chief guest, hoisted the National Flag. The celebration was witnessed by entire team of Village Panchayath and special children & staff of the school.

At Roman & Catherine Lobo Residential School for Visually Impaired, Shri A N Krishnamurthy, General Secretary, hoisted the National Flag. Sevabharathi Trustees Sri Vinod Shenoy and Sri Gajanana Pai, the Principal of the school Mr. Calistus D’sa, Canara Bank Retired Officer’s Association office bearers and members Sri B V Shenoy, Sri Umesh Shenoy, Sri Laxmikanth Nayak, staff, students and parents of the school were participated in the celebration

Chetana Child Development Centre, Mangaluru celebrated ‘Shri Krishna Janmashtami’ on 18.8.2022. Smt. Sumathi V Shenoy, President, Seva Bharathi, Smt. Sujatha Kamath the chief guest of the function and Smt. Suprita H M were present during the occasion. School teachers, children and those gathered in the function chanted Shri Krishnastothara, sang Bhajans with children, followed by Arathi. All the girls were dressed as ‘Radha’ and boys as ‘Krishna’ for performing Tottilu (cradle) Pooja. The teachers presented dance and Kunitha Bhajane (dance with bhajan). Ashtami related games ‘Mosaru Kudike’ (breaking the pot) and ‘Dana-Huli’ (chasing the cow) were played involving all the participants.
